KAMBRASS QUINTET
KamBrass (2017, Barcelona) is one of the most promising ensembles on the current music scene. Curiosity and a passion for chamber music are the driving forces behind the creation of this project, shared by the five friends. Their interest in premiering new works, the ensemble’s original music and their idiomatic arrangements establish versatility as their distinctive feature. Musicality is always their foundation.
In 2025, they received 1st prize and the award for the best performance of a commissioned work at the Ljubljana International Competition. In 2024, they were honoured with a prize at the ROSL in London. In 2023, they secured 2nd prize at the PJIBEC in Birmingham, UK. In 2022, they won the 1st Philip Jones Brass Prize in Lucerne, the 2nd Antón García Abril Prize in Baza, Granada, and the 2nd Cambra Romànica Prize in Andorra. They were also nominated for the 2022 Prix Credit Suisse. They were selected by Cuarteto Casals for the 2nd Chamber Music Workshop in Vic and received a scholarship from International Musical Youth to attend the Chamber Music Campus in Weikersheim, under the artistic direction of Heime Müller (Artemis Quartet). In 2021, they won the American Brass Quintet Prize at the Fischoff Chamber Music Competition, USA. In 2020, they achieved 2nd prize at the Orpheus Swiss Chamber Music Competition.
Since their first concert in Alcanar in 2018, they have performed at the Auditori de Barcelona’s Emergents Festival, the Lucerne Festival, the Schleswig-Holstein Music Festival, the Viva Música Festival in Bratislava, Kings Place in London, the Musikdorf Ernen Festival, the Swiss Chamber Music Festival, the Davos Music Festival, and the Catalonia’s Jeunesses Musicales’ Music Network, among others. In 2025, they made their debut as soloists with the Barcelona Municipal Band.
In October 2024, they launched their first recording project, Developments.
Furthermore, they complement their artistic work with academic specialisation under pianists Claudio Martínez and Anton Kernjak at the Hochschule für Musik Basel and the ECMA. Their training started at the ESMUC with Pablo Manuel Fernández and continued at the Hochschule für Musik Lucerne. The Casals Quartet, Antonio Lagares (Azahar Ensemble), Kuss Quartet, Reto Bieri, Patrick Jüdt, Dirk Mommertz (Fauré Quartet), Isabel Charisius (Alban Berg Quartet), Immanuel Richter, Matthias Hoffs (German Brass), Achilles Liarmakopoulos (Canadian Brass), and Spanish Brass, among others, have also contributed to the quintet’s academic stage.
